{mom & me session} holly springs family photography | mother's day session | raleigh NC photographer

I have known this mama since she sat in my classroom as a student. Since then, I have also taught her younger sister and became friends with her mom. Her daughter and my daughter now go to the same sitter during the day, and we work at the same school. It is crazy how things come full circle! When Sami asked if I could take some pictures of her and Hadley, I was excited at the opportunity. After all, COVID shut things down for a good while, so it was nice to get behind the camera again. This was an outdoor session, but I still wore a mask. We kept our social distance, and I used a longer length lens so that I didn’t have to get right in Hadley’s face.

This particular morning, we used one of my favorite locations in Holly Springs, NC - Sugg Farm. It has a lot of rustic feel, but what I love most is the amazing morning light it provides. This location is not just for fall sessions, but is is very popular during the fall season. I love all the green that is popping from the summer sun & how lucky to see a random patch of wildflowers (or weeds? who knows…who cares! They’re cute!) on my way into their session! I told them to hop in the car and just follow me there!

This session focused on Hadley since she was about to turn ONE (which is crazy because I JUST did her newborn pictures!). She is beginning to stand independently and maybe even take a step or two before deciding it isn’t a good idea. More than anything, this session also focused on the bond between mother & daughter. I am always a proponent of moms getting in front of the camera, since we are always the ones taking the pictures! I hope Sami & Hadley treasure these moments! Happy First Birthday!!
