A Summer Morning Family Session at the Raleigh Rose Garden
Ah, summer in the South. If you’ve ever experienced it, you don’t need a description. But for those of you who have never walked out of your front door at 8am and immediately feel drenched with sweat from the 90% humidity on a 90 degree day… you’re missing out (lol, jk, sort of). Summer sessions can be TOUGH in North Carolina. For one thing, it is hot. It is muggy. There are bugs. And, the sun doesn’t set until after 8pm. For some families, that isn’t a big deal, but for those with little kids who go to bed around 7:30-8:00pm, it can be challenging to keep everyone happy long enough to get those great family shots before everyone’s clothing is spotted with sweat stains. The solution? A morning session. Yes, it will still be a tad hot and there will always be humidity. But, the morning time frame usually works better for younger kids. This family reached out because they had just had their 4th baby and they knew an evening session absolutely would not work. We scheduled their morning family session at the beautiful Raleigh Rose Garden, which blooms from pretty much May to October. There is abundant greenery and every time of rose you could imagine. We literally stopped to smell the roses and I swear I have never smelled something so sweet in my life. I’m not one of those 40-something-grandma-hobbyists, so I am not into gardening and pretty much kill every plant that has ever graced my presence, but I can appreciate a beautiful bloom. In this family session, we focused not just on pretty posed, smiling photos, but also the in between moments of giggles and playing tag. After all, those are the things you want to remember when you’re old and grey and your kids come to visit with their kids. Ready to book your family session? Send me a message using the contact form!
