Newborn Photography: Tips and Ideas for Capturing Precious Moments | Raleigh NC Newborn Photographer

Newborn photography is an art that requires patience, creativity, and a gentle touch. As a photographer, I have the opportunity to capture the essence of a new life and create memories that will last a lifetime. In this blog post, I'll share tips and ideas for newborn photography that will help you capture the most precious moments.

Timing is Everything

The best time to schedule a newborn photo session is within the first two weeks of life. During this time, babies are still very sleepy and can be easily posed. They are also less likely to have developed rashes or baby acne. But many parents ask, “how can we schedule our newborn session when we have no idea when baby will arrive?” That is why I only book a certain number of newborns each month to insure that I have enough time to photograph them all! Your session date is tentative and can be adjusted depending on baby’s birth day.

Preparing the Baby and Environment

Before the session, make sure the baby is well-fed and has a clean diaper. I tend to keep the room warm and cozy to keep the baby comfortable. I use soft blankets to create a comfortable environment. I have a variety of props that are designed to pose baby in safely. Although my style is minimalistic, I can create a variety of styles in my studio.

Creative Poses and Props

There are endless possibilities for poses and props for newborn photography. I have a great selection of baskets, crates, and bowls that give newborn photos a unique look. I use headbands, hats, and other accessories to add a pop of color or texture. In the studio, you will have the ability to select the props that you are most drawn to.

Portfolio, Pricing, and Availability

When looking for a newborn photographer, parents typically search for a photographer's portfolio, pricing, and availability. My pricing guide is linked in my header and clearly explains what each session includes. You can also reach out to me using the contact form to check availability. I often post my newborn availability on my social media pages as well.

In conclusion, newborn photography is a special art that requires patience, creativity, and a gentle touch. I have been photographing newborns since 2012 and have worked with hundreds of families to capture the most precious moments and create memories that will last a lifetime.
