What is included in a studio newborn session? | Raleigh Newborn Photographer
I am going to start this post with a disclaimer. (lol). Every baby is different, and each baby can have a different attitude day-by-day. In this post, I want to share with you some of the common poses/set ups that I try to get with every baby who is carried into my studio.
I usually try to start with family portraits first. This is especially true if there are older siblings who are included. I will always get some photos where everyone is looking at the camera, but I will also capture more intimate photos where they are loving on their new baby.
In addition to family photos, I also capture baby with just the parents (& siblings) individually.
After family photos are over, parents/siblings can just sit back and relax. I will now attempt some of my newborn poses on the beanbag. If they’re awake, I grab some awake & detail shots.
If they go to sleep, I will try and pose them in simple, natural positions if they’ll allow it. If they’re fussy, or easily awakened, I will usually just move on to wrapping them for the duration of the shoot.
After the bean bag, I will place baby in some pre-designed prop set ups. This may include a basket, crate, or bucket. The number of set ups is determined by baby’s demeanor, but as long as baby is having it, I usually try to do 2 set ups. In your booking questionnaire, I will ask you your preferences for color incorporation or if you have any specific requests.
If this minimalistic, clean, neutral style matches your vision, reach out and let’s discuss your newborn session options!
