A Check List of What to Bring to your Studio Newborn Session

You just had a baby and now you have all the baby things. What is necessary to bring to your studio newborn session? Here are just a few items that I recommend:

1. Milk. Even if you fed baby before you came to the session, please always bring a spare supply of milk. If you are nursing on demand, perfect. We can stop the session at any point. If you feel more comfortable bringing in pumped milk, that is fine as well. Even if you do not anticipate your baby being hungry during the session, the change of scenery, the movement of posing, and just the fact that they are unpredictable can lead to them wanting just a bit of food.

2. A pacifier. Some babies do not take to a pacifier, but I do recommend that you bring one to the session just in case. Sometimes they need to be soothed by sucking on a pacifier when transitioning. If you are concerned about your baby not returning to breast after taking a pacifier at your session, I promise in all my 10 years of doing this, no baby has refused the breast after their newborn session pacifier usage.

3. Diaper & wipes. Your baby will keep their diaper on during their session, so they will definitely need a diaper change either during the session or after. :)

4. Water. This is for you, mama! I have a heater on in the studio and it can get a little toasty. I want you to be comfortable and I know how important it is for a new mom to stay hydrated.

…And that is it! I literally have everything you need for your session. You can just show up, sit back, and relax. This is suppose to be a memorable experience for your and your family. If you have any questions during or after your session, please make sure you reach out!

Oh, Karson. At 22 days old, you sure did behave so well at your studio newborn session. And that hair! Absolutely to die for. Not all “older” newborns tolerate posing, but Karson did fabulous! Most newborn sessions are booked 4-5 months in advance to make sure there is enough flexibility to fit you in between 8-18 days. If your baby is over that age range, please still contact me and I could see about fitting you in!
