It is always a pleasure to meet a new family to photograph their sweet baby. With coronavirus shutting everything down in North Carolina for a while in the spring, many of my clients didn’t get to have a newborn session. Once some restrictions were lifted. I was able to start back photographing using safety measures. I was contacted by this family for a newborn session in their home, and I assured them that I would wear a mask, remove shoes, wash hands, and handle baby minimally. I also do a self-check of symptoms before any session to make sure that I do not knowingly expose someone to a possible infection. So far, my family and I have been very lucky to have not come in contact with someone with COVID, or to have had symptoms ourselves knock on wood. But, then again, we wear our masks, and stay home as much as possible.

With this particular session, I wanted to capture a lot of family interaction and genuine moments. The beauty of a lifestyle newborn session is just that - I’m helping to capture real life. The first few days, weeks, and months are such a blur when you bring your baby home from the hospital. It is always nice to look back on photographs to remember when they were oh so tiny. I love that even the older fur sibling decided to join us for some pictures too. They are always welcome! In this home, the nursery only had a small corner window which made the natural light a little difficult. But, the master bed room was flooded with light! We got a lot of variety in different rooms in this house, and just used the light accordingly. Even if they do not stay in this home forever (which I commented several times how much I loved how it was remodeled), they will always have these images to look back on the first house that they brought baby Hank home to. :). I love my job.
