Who says a baby has to be under two weeks old to have a newborn session?? Not me! In fact, I love an older newborn. They are beginning to show some personality. They can hold their heads up a little better. They will give some adorable, chunky smiles. Not to mention, when you first have a baby, things are crazy! You are juggling emotions & postpartum fun stuff that no one warns you about. Waiting to do your newborn session is an excellent idea if you just want to relax after you get out of the hospital. Usually older babies will not be sleepy during their session, but most parents love the awake shots anyway. This family also had amazing natural lighting in their bedroom and nursery. It made for some really awesome images. As usual, lifestyle newborn sessions are dictated by baby and this little guy was ready for a nap! He took a short snooze on mom’s shoulder and then they wrapped him in his Ollie swaddle wrap and we were done! These are some of my favorite from 2020 because of all the genuine interaction that I was able to capture.
