Light and Airy Boudoir Photography in Raleigh, N.C.
For years, I’ve photographed women through so many different seasons of life. My work has mostly focused on newborns, families, and motherhood — sessions that are emotional and deeply personal in their own ways. I spend a lot of time with women during some of their most vulnerable moments: pregnancy, postpartum, early motherhood, and those in-between times where life feels loud and busy and it’s easy to lose yourself a little.
Over time, it just felt natural to create a space just for them.
Adding boudoir wasn’t about doing something trendy or completely new. It felt like the next right step — an extension of the same calm, respectful approach I bring to every newborn and family session, just focused entirely on the woman in front of my camera.
When I first offered boudoir as limited mini sessions for Valentine’s Day, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Maybe no one would book? I didn’t know if the same moms who trusted me to hold their newborns would trust me to see them in such a private way. But, to my surprise, they filled quickly, and the response made it clear there was a real desire for this kind of experience year-round. Not something flashy or raunchy, but something soft, beautiful, and intentional. More than anything, they were empowering and a way to allow women to do something for themselves… even if it was disguised as a gift for someone else.
If you’ve ever loved the way I photograph motherhood — and wondered what it might feel like to step in front of the camera just for yourself — this is for you.
Boudoir photography can mean a lot of different things. In my studio, it looks a lot like the rest of my work: soft, minimal, and honest.
The space feels warm and relaxed, with light-filled curtains and neutral bed linens — never dark, dramatic, or intimidating. My style is feminine and modern, with a subtle boho feel that stays timeless instead of trendy.
There are no harsh lights, no forced posing, and no pressure to “perform.” The goal is to create images that feel like you — elevated, natural, and quietly confident.
Many of my boudoir clients are women I’ve photographed before — mothers I’ve worked with during pregnancy, newborn, or family sessions — who are now stepping in front of the camera for themselves.
These sessions are especially loved by women who want something beautiful but understated. Moms who want to reconnect with their bodies after having children. Anyone who wants to be photographed in a way that feels calm, respectful, and real.
You don’t need to be a certain size, age, or stage of life. You don’t need any modeling experience. Most clients walk in feeling nervous — and leave surprised by how relaxed the experience actually felt.
My approach to boudoir is very similar to how I photograph newborns and families: slow, patient, and gently guided. These sessions are about honoring where you are right now. Not changing yourself. Not pretending to be someone else. Just allowing yourself to be seen.
You’ll receive soft direction throughout the session, with poses that feel natural and flattering. I focus on movement, gentle lines, and real expressions — nothing stiff or overly posed.
Sessions are private, unrushed, and held in a comfortable studio environment. And more often than not, clients tell me afterward that it felt far less intimidating than they expected — and even enjoyable.
What clients are saying:
“Amy was AMAZING. She made me feel completely comfortable and safe the entire session, explained everything as we went, and somehow turned my nerves into confidence (and plenty of laughs along the way). The experience was empowering, professional, and honestly fun — and the final images are stunning. I’ve loved working with her for our daughter’s photos, and now I can confidently say her boudoir work is just as incredible. Highly recommend!” -Heidi
