Maternity Photography Tips :: Raleigh NC Maternity Photography

  1. Wear something that shows off that bump!

You can wear a dress or a top with jeans, but just make sure we can see that bump! Solids or patterns are fine, but if having photos taken with family members, make sure your patterns do not compete with each other. So, if you decide to wear a pattern, consider putting other members of your family in a solid. There are obviously maternity stores that specialize in maternity clothing, but you can always check online marketplaces like Amazon.

2. Choose a great location for your maternity session

Raleigh, N.C. has plenty of locations that are great for a maternity session. We will work together to find the best background for your photos depending on your style. We will need to consider the time of year when you will have your photos taken. A park that looks awesome with fall color leaves will not look the same in January. Also, if you are wanting to incorporate your pets, we will need to choose a location that is pet friendly.

3. Book your maternity session for the third trimester

There is no exact time to have maternity photos taken. Usually moms wait until their third trimester to have their session because that gives plenty of time for the bump to protrude. It is also exciting because you are in the last stretch! Most photographers would not recommend waiting until 37 weeks or after for your photos, because we know how just unpredictable babies can be (and due dates!) I always suggest some time between 32-35 weeks.
